Perl Studio for Windows 95/98/2000/NT

Perl Studio psViewer

Linking a database to a web site registration form or purchase order creates an incredibly powerful combination of mission-critical and decision making information based on current database records. But connecting a database to the web can be expensive and time consuming, requiring an understanding of complex programming languages like Perl and SQL. Perl Studio's psViewer overcomes the expense and complexity of linking a database on your PC to the web by supplying the necessary Perl script files and the Windows software to manage the database on the web and your PC. All that's left for you to do is plan your information infrastructure and strategy to make the web a profitable medium for your products. There are hundreds of Windows software programs for viewing database files on your PC, but only Perl Studio psViewer™ makes it a simple task of retrieving the database records from the web and displaying the records in a view that you can customize to your preferences

The easiest way to link a database to the web

Retrieving mission-critical database information is a simple click of the mouse button in Perl Studio psViewer™. Just click the DB button on the toolbar in the Perl Studio psViewer™ software program.

Or you can use the database menu to display a password protected dialog box for retrieving database records from the web.

Database records are stored in a DBI-mysql, MS SQL, MS Access database or a password-protected flat text file on a specified web server and downloaded/inserted into a Microsoft Access database on your PC. All database records can be retrieved or just the records for a specified date range.

After you have downloaded the latest database records from the web, you can sort, query, print, or export records to Microsoft Excel, Intuit QuickBooks, Fedex shipping programs or any other software program that imports ascii text files for future data analysis.

Sort the columns of database records by clicking on the column headings.

Query, print, or export the database records to Microsoft Excel by selecting a query from the query list on the toolbar.

Print or print preview records by selecting the Print menu selection from the File menu.

You can customize the column format by selecting the Format Columns menu selection on the Database menu. Adjust the column width or text aligment for the database records.

You can customize the Column Layout by selecting the Fields to View menu selection on the Database menu. Select the fields to view and the position of the fields in the database.

After you have customized the column headings and layout you can save the column format for later use.

Use the file open/save toolbar buttons for saving or opening a existing column format.

Or use the File menu for saving or opening a existing column format.

You can add or edit a SQL Query, or contact us for adding custom queries to your database.

By selecting a record with your left mouse button, then using your right mouse button to display a context menu, you can print an Report, copy the record information to the Windows clipboard, or view the record's text fields in a new window.

By selecting a record and double clicking with your left mouse button, a dialog box will be displayed with the information for the selected record.
